Convicted American fraudster Bernie Madoff has requested a compassionate release from his 150-year prison sentence, saying he has terminal kidney failure and fewer than 18 months to live.

The rich and famous were among Madoff's victims, as well as thousands of people of lesser means who had invested with him unknowingly through feeder funds.

"Madoff's health has and will continue to deteriorate, and he will require more assistance physically and medically leading up to his death," attorney Brandon Sample wrote. The Bureau of Prisons denied Madoff's request for release in December, according to court papers, saying it would"minimise the severity of his offence." The agency lists Madoff's release date as November 14, 2139.Madoff's motion mentions Scotland's controversial release of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, who was convicted in 2001 of blowing up Pan Am Flight 103 over the Scottish town of Lockerbie in 1988, killing 270 people.

I’m sure the prison has very good palliative care

So what U do the crime u do the time and shouldn't matter the situation. Think of the VICTIMS they don't get special treatment

Put him down now

Did he, at some point, think he was going to serve out his 150 years?

a bad person for sure but also a scapegoat, used to project an image of one bad apple in an otherwise OK industry the entire sector shouldn't exist

Let him die on prison where he truly belongs - he ruined so many lives !!!

Then he’ll be out early in 18 months, so what’s the problem?

Should rot in jail....

As the old saying goes 'If you can't do the time, don't do the crime'

Can we ever trust a man like this ? The answer is NO.

As Bernie’s such a good guy, give him another 150.

🎵🎶While my guitar gently weeps ... 🎶🎵

Should die in jail and be buried in jail until his sentence is finished.

Point ?

So it’s now an 18 month sentence - he got off pretty lightly

Let him out in 17 months.

Then he might as well stay where he is

This doesn't sound like a trick at all. Oh. Wait........

Can someone tell me how he still has money for an attorney? Did all the people who he screwed chip in to get the worst one in USA to plead for his release.

Did anyone else read Bernie Sanders initially

How many died early sick & in poverty cause of of his crimes. Leave him there & bill his estate for any medical costs.

Be a lot less if they let him out.....

No one cares

Meh, that’s a shame, die in jail. It happens

'The Bureau of Prisons denied Madoff's request for release in December, according to court papers, saying it would 'minimise the severity of his offence.' The agency lists Madoff's release date as November 14, 2139.'

I’m torn between “give him 100 years off the 150” and “stiff shit”.

No. Considering the number of lives destroyed, Madoff should rot in a cell for the remainder of what is left of his life.

Tough titties.

Watch Trump issue a presidential pardon. They should both rot in a jail cell- together.

We'd be 'Mad' to see him 'off'. Apart from in a box, that is.

Come back to us in 3 years time Bernie.

Okay fine, halve it.

Can Angus Taylor help him out?

Bad Luck. He has killed a lot of people via Suicide. Fark him. THEIF.

Release him - in Wuhan.
