Four teenagers have been charged, with two released on bail, after a police chase ended outside a shopping centre in Melbourne’s northwest. Four offenders armed with machetes were alleged to be behind two home invasions and an attempted carjacking in Mickleham about 6.30am on Monday. No one was injured. Police quickly started tracking an allegedly stolen black vehicle, which was followed by a police chopper through Wyndham Vale in Werribee and other suburbs northwest of Melbourne.
Police allege the car reached speeds of up to 200km/h before it stopped outside a Big W at a busy shopping centre in Sunbury just before 10am. Four people got out of the car and were arrested at the scene. A 16-year-old Wyndham Vale boy and 15-year-old girl from Windsor were charged with theft of motor vehicle and both were bailed to appear in a children’s court at a later date.
