Four people accused of murdering Ballarat woman Kobie Parfitt have been ordered to stand trial in the Victorian Supreme Court.Ballarat woman Kobie Parfitt went missing in April 2020 and her body was found in a mine shaft in December 2020
"The Crown case includes evidence which demonstrates that Kobie Parfitt met with great violence on April 28, 2020, as a result of which she’s died and was dumped into a mineshaft in Snake Valley."They will face a directions hearing in the Victorian Supreme Court later this month.Magistrate Saines said the evidence put forward by the Crown was sufficient, in his opinion, that a jury would find the four accused as guilty.
"The evidence also can support a conclusion that there was ample opportunity and cooperation amongst the four accused about these grievances, both before and on [the] day of the death."Detective Senior Constable Jason Stewart from the Missing Persons Squad told the court he believed Ms Parfitt was strangled during an altercation in her Ballarat backyard on April 28, 2020, when all four accused were present.
Ms Parfitt told the witness she feared the accused were going to put her in the boot of a car, and asked the witness to call the police but later changed her mind. The witness said Ms Parfitt got back into a car with two of the accused and was then driven across the street and into the backyard of Ms Parfitt's home.
The court also heard Mr Ford told police he barely knew Ms Parfitt and had never been to her house, but this was contradicted by a witness who saw Mr Ford at Ms Parfitt's house on the day police believe she was murdered.
