PCKJ3627 Time to look after service personal after they finish thier service

Tragedy, should not have happened, where is the support for these young soldiers.

Showing the true value of soldiers, The Corporations they are fighting for sees them as an expendable asset and once they stop fighting they have no value. Don't anyone try that fighting for our freedoms BS. We are the bad guys if you haven't been paying attention.

As a former employee of DVA I can tell you that department is single handedly screwing with these peoples lives and making it even harder for them to get claims approved. Especially related to mental health. There is MOUNTAINS of internal policies and hoops they have to jump thru

Our governments live to celebrate war and it’s fallen but ignores the families of those killed and the survivors, they cost too much. ScottMorrisonMP doesn’t value life only death.

Yes it depends on your psychiatrist. I'm now OK. I am not a danger to myself or others but until you have walked in our shoes a typical civvie just doesn't understand what its like to be a member of a team 1 minute and a useless gymp the next tossed out without support or help..

😢😢😢

This has been a crisis for far too long. These soldiers deserve better. Reading this makes me sad, and angry. That could be my husband, or my son.

Another highly talented, skilled and competent young worker tossed out the door with no transition plan, no aid, no care. We should be ashamed

he became an opioid dependent ...he kind of self medicated ...there needs to be a system that stops someone from getting multiple prescriptions ...but his story is pretty complex and he needed better support to help him manage his conditions.

Why did he join the adf? What a waste of life. I’m sure there was plenty of other things this man could have done for society.

why do we put kids in wars

Every one recites 'The Ode' on ANZAC day, and all join in the refrain 'Lest We Forget' but in truth, once the news cycle moves on so does society. Shame on us all. checkyourmates

As a former ADF airman I am always amazed at the attitude of governemt pollies and their beuracrates total lack of real and genuine support to those who serve and protect our country. They lie and spin about how much they help but dont really do much.

Pollies are disengaged.

I have a friend who ‘so far’ has lost 6 of his mates in his former regiment to suicide. This is a tragic story, but unfortunately the tip of the iceberg, it deserves much more coverage and action from press and politicians alike. Heartbreaking.. 🙁

Heartbreaking. You deserved better Digger. RIP. :-(

I can’t find the words for this. 😢

FatherBob Very sad but politicians dont give a stuff unless theres political mileage in it

The government will be glad they don't have to worry about this poor bloke anymore... They have other self serving agendas to address

What a terrible tragedy

A VERY typical story, of which I am an example, just that (obviously) every story is a bit different. It isn't just chain of info, you are 'dispensed with' once you are 'broken' and DVA fights you harder than the enemy. It's a losing battle once 'out', one that's hard to win. 😥

Which would mean psychiatrists kept upping his doses of psych drugs over the year. In the hands of a psychiatrist you're 'at the risk of death', so it's never suicide, it's 'yet another death at the hand of a psychiatrist'.

Cant help but think more funding could go to veterans support services....

Very sad. Veterans who have put their lives on the line for our country should be a priority when it comes to assistance and service once arriving home from deployment.

Like theirabc gives a shit about the DF - always an anti Govt agenda defundABCnow

It doesn't matter where you are from soldiers are not valued or cared for by their governments

😓 terrible. Too sad

Former Ivory Coast leader acquitted of war crimes, set to be releasedLaurent Gbagbo faced four counts of crimes against humanity, including murder, rape, persecution and other inhumane acts during post-electoral violence in Ivory Coast. Of course. Just like no one charged over AWU raid. Two sets of rules. Corruption oozes out of the cesspits of ‘leadership’. In a normal world they would all be tarred and feathered before being stood against that bloody wall. Power does not corrupt. Corruption built in! auspol Hey, it's Africa. They have an entirely different moral code that we smug westerners simply don't understand and don't want to. That makes two of them although the other black guy never went on trial.
