The Medical Board of Australia has suspended Dr Peter Renshaw's medical practitioner registration. It comes after an investigation was launched into allegations he falsified death certificates.

A parliamentary inquiry this year heard allegations that former Launceston General Hospital boss Peter Renshaw had falsified death certificates to avoid a coronial inquiry.

Dr Peter Renshaw was the head of medical services at the Launceston General Hospital from 1989 until he retired in 2022. In a statement, a spokesperson for the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency said the National Board only has the "power to suspend a practitioner using interim, 'immediate action' powers, while it undertakes an investigation or other process".Dr Peter Renshaw was director of medical services at the Launceston General Hospital from 1989 until he retired in 2022.

Amanda Duncan gave evidence to a parliamentary inquiry in February, accusing Dr Renshaw of falsifying death certificates to a coronial inquiry.The Health Department said all six cases to be reviewed were "originally assessed by a single staff member, who is no longer employed by the Department of Health".
