Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says flood relief grants are not “tax-free upfront” because there is a potential for people to “gain money”.

“The grant is paid, some of it without receipts as you would be aware,

“Once it’s expended it becomes a deduction, just like the grants that we’ve made today, which is the same way that it has always operated.”
