A flight attendant, Henny Lim, has revealed the secret behind the missing 13th row on planes. Lim shared in a video that the reason row 13 is missing so often is because “in many cultures, number 13 is associated with bad luck”. “That is why most airlines prefer to avoid igniting the superstitions of their customers and have opted to remove the number from the seating plans,” she said.
The number 17 is also considered unlucky in some cultures, such as Italian. “This fear stems from the fact that the number 17’s Roman numeral, XVII, is an anagram of VIXI, which means ‘I have lived’ in Latin,” Abode Italy reports. “Some consider this a bad omen as it implies that death is just around the corner.” Lim frequently shares about her life as a flight attendant and facts about flying. She recently revealed the secret behind black triangle stickers on airplanes.
