A witness who claims he spoke to Jack De Belin outside the room where the NRL star allegedly sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman has been accused of making up the encounter.Troy Martin originally told police that he did not hear or see anything on the night of the alleged rape
Primary school teacher Troy Martin told Wollongong District Court yesterday that he lied in his original statement to police when he said he had not seen or heard anything on the night in question. Crown prosecutor David Scully re-examined Mr Martin in court today and suggested to him that the encounter never happened.
He provided the firm with a statutory declaration setting out his recollection of the events of the morning of December 9, 2018. The court heard the complainant displayed erythema, or redness, and had mild swelling on the chest, abrasions on the back of her right shoulder and a 1.6 centimetre bruise at the base of her neck, on the right-hand side.Dr Ellacott said an arm across her chest and throat may have caused it.The court heard the examination did not uncover any evidence of injuries to the complainant's genital area.
