'Not black and white': Lawyers warn fines for public health breaches could fall over in court | JordsBaker

Police fined Mr Harwin after the 55-year-old had relocated to a second home at Pearl Beach "in contravention of current Ministerial Direction under the Public Health Act". But the orders do allow people to move between residences, and to leave for essential business.

For example, the NSW orders only criminalised leaving the house without an excuse, and did not address the issue of staying out of the house longer than necessary, unlike those in Queensland. "I think if society got back to normal, a great deal of these would be dealt with either very leniently or dismissed because there are a number of technicalities," he said.

JordsBaker Its not that hard to adhere too, people just are ill disciplined and its why they are fined.

JordsBaker Healthy people are expected to adhere to health & safety precautions protocols to avoid unwanted contacts with a sick individual. As an essential worker only smart ones will understand.

JordsBaker So they should, this police state bullshit needs to end. There will be an uprising soon if they don't pull their heads in

JordsBaker It's totally ridiculous, it's a crime against humanity to lock down totally healthy pple when it's the gov. and it's lie of infection rates that put hundreds of thousands in dole queues. Pple are healthier out in the open than stuffy home. Honestly our media are pathetic
