Findex co-founder Spiro Paule and his wife Conny have emerged as the mystery circa $40m buyers of the grand Toorak estate of late fund manager David Hains.

Two of Melbourne’s biggest trophy deals are directly linked, with the sellers of Toorak mansion Dunraven – accounting giant Findex’sGeographically, it’s not a huge move for the Paules, who are decamping from one of Toorak’s best streets, Clendon Road, to make the two-minute drive to another top-tier address on coveted Albany Road.

The veteran agent said recent trophy sales had ushered in a new generation of wealth, who were taking the keys to mansions held by blue-bloods for years. The property was sold by Kay & Burton’s Sam Wilkinson, with the international buyer introduced to by his colleague, Jamie Mi.Ms Mi, who heads up Kay & Burton’s international arm, said competition across Melbourne’s prestige market was being bolstered by an expanding mix of international buyers competing with strong local interest.“Even five years ago the majority international interest was Chinese, but it’s changed a lot,” Ms Mi said.
