Fierce Ooshie backlash divides Aussies

— Jonathan Northall Many shoppers have questioned why stores are still actively promoting the Disney Ooshies when customers are being turned away when they go to redeem the items.

“What was the point in doing Ooshies when you don't have enough? You should have known it would be HUGE after Lion King,” one upset customer wrote to the supermarket. “I have receipts totalling $681.99 with 24 earned Ooshies. Was told to hold onto receipts and bring in with me on next visit to collect when new stock arrives. Now I’m guessing this stock won’t be arriving, so I’m left empty-handed?” they wrote.

“To our customers, we thank you for your excitement and engagement with the Disney+ Ooshies and apologise for any frustration or disappointment caused by running out of stock,” the Woolworths spokesperson said. One Facebook user pointed out that the supermarket always stated the length of the promotion would depend on the how quickly the stock was depleted.

One person suggested anyone who was angry at the Ooshies promotion ending needed to “re-evaluate their life choices”.

And here was me thinking... fantastic! they've finally come to their senses and stopped promoting the production of useless plastic... people power! But no.

I didn’t know that anyone cares about Disney anymore.

This is why I refuse to pay for plastic bags .

Why ban plastic bags if you intend on giving this crap away at the checkouts? woolworths defies logic.

Spend 680 bucks for 24 Ooshie. That thing cost less than 20 cents to make. Go buy in China! LOL!!

The real point is people spent good money to get these in tough Covid-19 conditions. Now they get nothing in return by the looks of things. Sure for many they are just a part of everyday shopping, but many were enticed to spend more to get the Ooshies for their kids.

I am holding a docket now for 5 Ooshies that are owed to me. This sucks!. This is hardly the first time for this knid of incident!. They ALWAYS seem to run out or have some kind of issue. The Marvel Heroes also had a ton of problems. It's really bad karma for Disney too though.

Maybe with the next promotion people should refuse the stupid toys..

Imagine being more concerned with the little piece of rubber you are given after you pay for your shopping, than the actual health and nutritional benefits of the fake food you just purchased.....🤷🙄

For goodness sake it’s only a toy! And to spend all that money to get a toy is a bit silly. Isn’t it? Really?

We all need to stop shopping with these corporate giants and start shopping with the small businesses. Support the little guys who get strangled and shut down by corporate greed.

I know someone who works at woolies. She got a call from head office about a customer who was in tears on the phone because the store had run out. This was a few weeks ago. They got more in.This was an adult, not a 3 year old child. She only had to keep her receipt & take it back

People are losing their jobs, can’t visit their families, getting news of their relatives dying of Covid and that’s what you have for the news? Shame on you.

The manipulation is endless. Get the kids hooked and watch the parents obey. What’s special about these plastics when every kid on the block has them? Never enough money for these conglomerates.
