A man has been charged after a female COVID-19 testing site worker was allegedly verbally abused and punched on the head in Sydney’s north-west.

“Police will allege a man came up to one of the workers ... pushed a telephone into her face, dislodged her mask then struck her in the face, said some horrible things and then left the scene as others came to help that lady,” he said.He was taken to Granville police station, where he was charged with common assault, two counts of possessing a prohibited drug and breaching the public health orders.

“My message to them is, ‘We’re in the middle of a pandemic, those people are there, well-trained, very caring, to look after you,’ ” he said. “Any assaults like that, I’m quite sure that police would bring down the full force of the law, and so they should.” “Health and hospital workers are already battling anxiety and exhaustion. Violent attacks like this push them beyond breaking point. This assailant is an absolute grub and needs to feel the full force of the law.”

'One day at a time': COVID-19 busts out of Greater Sydney, raising fears statewideFor the the first time, large areas of regional New South Wales are in the eye of the COVID storm as the virus jumps out of the city and puts communities on alert across the state. Are you reporting on the growing demands for Gladys to resign? It didn't jump out of the city magically. She let it out by failing to do what is needed to keep it locked up in Sydney. Stop going so easy on a clearly incompetent premier. nswpol covid19nsw covid19aus gladysfail Ring of steel perhaps? GladysGoldStandsrd Yes blame the government because people can't think for themselves. People who don't follow the rules are to blame. I didn't hear the government say it's ok to visit and travel around, that's people doing the wrong thing.

Police investigate whether COVID-positive Sydney man who travelled to Byron Bay breached health ordersThe Sydney man who travelled to Byron Bay is accused of not using QR codes during his stay and travelling there to view property, in a move the local mayor has slammed as 'annoying and frustrating'. Can the NSW police investigate on their own Premier too. why she can’t do a better job bringing the numbers down,!? Rather constantly going on about a vaccine for the past 2 weeks. Can’t tolerate her podium daily announcements. Interesting that it is not automatic that travelling from Sydney to Byron is a breach of lockdown orders. Toughest lockdown, hey?
