Federal Treasury's revelation blunts the Government's attacks against the proposed overhaul of housing tax concessions.

Labor's Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen said"the Government's been caught red-handed" misrepresenting official advice.

"Treasury's main concern would be that it should not be misrepresented, and it should not itself be drawn into the partisan battle," he said. "A survey of more than 1,000 people by the Property Council of Australia found … half of all investors admitted they would be forced to charge more rent and around six in 10 current investors would be discouraged from investing in property."

Glad Treasury is holding these clowns to account, because we can no longer trust the media to do it.

Just shows that even the Treasury has had enough of the Bullshit coming out of this Government!

That would be the left leaning public servants no doubt and pushed now by the left leaning ABC And further peddled by panicked little Bowen and his cohorts!

Negative gearing would certainly smash Victoria's dodgy economy for sure.

JoshBBornstein Facts don’t matter to Coalition

Can ScottMorrisonMP and JoshFrydenberg lie straight in bed?

The most dishonest, untruthful, ethically and morally corrupt government is our history

Exaggerating = lying You can’t believe anything the LNPfail say auspol

Of course they lie (liberals that is). auspol

Thank you Treasury. But you'll be disappointed if you expect the LNP to stop lying now... they have been doing it for the dark past 6 years. They don't know another way...

Isn't the whole point of Labor's removal of negative gearing for existing homes is to reduce house prices? A lost cause if treasury says it's likely not much impact in the long term. Why bother?

Finally! Is it the influence of Ita being felt already, or the senate estimates yesterday? Either way, keep it up and you might actually achieve balanced coverage of both parties.

JoshFrydenberg AirlieWalsh SkyNewsAust

Suddenly Treasury are property experts, give me a break! Labor with Tricky Dicky Shorten at the helm will send this country into an economic dive never experienced before, I wonder if Treasury can see that!!!

Oh dear! Those pesky facts getting in the way of the LNP believe system again. auspol
