Tourism operators are warning the uncertainty over state border closures is continuing to hurt businesses across Australia, with almost two thirds of people surveyed not planning on travelling anywhere this Easter.Nearly two thirds of people surveyed by the Tourism and Transport Forum said they would not be travelling this Easter

Forty-two per cent of respondents said uncertainty over state border restrictions had negatively affected their intention to travel over Easter, while 53 per cent said it had hurt their chances of travelling in the next 12 months.TTF chief executive Margy Osmond said the data showed fears about border closures were damaging chances of an Easter tourism boost, even before states and territories imposed new restrictions in response to Queensland's COVID-19 cases.

Head of Tourism and Transport Forum Margy Osmond says there have been fears over the Easter tourism period, before the latest restrictions. "And it will take many months for confidence to return. That, at a time when the industry is now facing no safety net at all with the loss of JobKeeper."The survey also asked people whether they would be more likely to take a break because of the federal government's discount airfares scheme, which starts today, with 40 per cent of respondents saying they would be.

Fears for the travel industry outweighing a fear for folk's health safety? You can't travel to a particular region?.. great! Probably means the area is not safe & you're better off going elsewhere, and they'll take your money with a smile. Plan sensibly.

Organised crime.

We can blame the government for this. They're the ones imposing these draconian measures on us.

Bet there are plenty not going to Queensland or Byron bay.
