Dr Anthony Fauci, the top US infectious disease expert, says the country is seeing a 'disturbing surge' of coronavirus infections and that the next two weeks will be critical to tamping down hotspots around the US.

Experts have raised concerns that the reopening of the US economy could lead to a fresh wave of infections.

Grigor Dimitrov, a three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist from Bulgaria, said on Sunday he tested positive for the virus. The new field hospital brings the number of hospital beds nationwide to just above 27,000, including existing facilities and new field hospitals, according to the government. The new facility's beds come with equipment to administer concentrated oxygen.

He says restaurants, coffee shops, clubs and theatres will allowed to reopen at 25 per cent capacity.The gradual reopening was announced as the the daily number of new coronavirus cases in Egypt has often surpassed 1000 in recent weeks.
