A passing boat discovered the vessel at about 11.30pm yesterday near the mouth of Island Head Creek at Shoalwater, 110 kilometres north-west of Rockhampton.
Water police were called and officers believe the boat had hit an object at speed and the two men died in the collision.Police say the six-metre aluminium Sailfish 3000 vessel suffered major damage to its front and below the water line.Nearby Shoalwater Bay was the area used for the the joint-military exercise Talisman Sabre between several nations including Australia and the United States.
