Alarmingly, the average suicide rate in farmers was almost 60 per cent higher than non-farmers, according to the coronial data. "But easy access to such a quick and lethal method probably accounts for the high rates of suicide in the bush to some degree.

Hard to believe this figures otherwise we would have run out if farmers years ago

If rural areas and the agricultural industry are so strongly represented in suicides I would be more interested to know how many had alcohol in their system. I am not convinced this is related to work I would like to know how much of it is related to community and social habits

Taking the deaths over a 10 year period (370) and dividing it by the number of days to get roughly 1 every 10 days is not sound. Farmers are 60% more likely to commit suicide would be a better headline.
