Suspicious Aussies have begun questioning whether the flavour profiles of some of the country’s most iconic sweets and snacks have changed.

Some of the nation’s most nostalgic treats have been slammed by Aussies online as having lost much of their flavour or having changed in texture.Monte Carlos and Iced VoVos have both been singled out as having “been murdered” taste-wise since Arnott’s changed hands four years ago.

Monte Carlos, in particular, came under fire for having “red and white hardened glue instead of filling” that loosely resembled a dodgy “baby formula” by-product.“I used to work for Arnott’s years ago and a while bought a pack of Iced Vovos on a reminiscent whim, boy was I disappointed, so much so I emailed Arnott’s to express my dismay,” one user wrote.

“Similar to baking at home, there can be slight variations with our products within an acceptable range, so not every biscuit will look exactly the same, with each pack weighed to ensure it meets the weight on pack.”Other nostalgic snacks such as Allen’s lollies, owned by Nestle, have also been in the firing line, with some Aussies arguing they taste different to the cult favourite sweets of their youth.

“We are looking to move to 100 per cent Australian-made Toobs by the end of the year,” a Smith’s spokesperson told NCA NewsWire. “Did these ever taste good or is nostalgia lying to me?” one Reddit user asked of Arnott’s Tina Wafers earlier this year.
