Remember cassettes, facsimile machines and even telegrams? They are some of the outdated words still used in NSW laws

Artificial intelligence has been used to hunt down out-of-date laws and archaic words still contained in NSW legislation as well as uncovering significant duplication and overlap of many regulations.

The report also found the average piece of regulation in NSW is 22 years old and a piece of regulation in NSW is edited, on average, 104 times. Mr Perrottet said simplifying legislation could deliver millions of dollars in savings for businesses – through reduced paperwork and allowing them to focus on being more productive.

"In an era where your phone has more computing power than they used to send people to the moon I don’t think there are too many telegrams being sent."

So too is the label “Westminster system” when in fact we now have American style politics and employment contracts and pay rates.....all outdated thanks to Msrs Howard, Abbott and now Morrison.

Fax still used by Centrelink!

That's nothing compared to Pauline Hanson.

Post office can arrange it - you have to laugh because it changes it from an email scan into a fax - we are using 21st century devices to make 20th century docs !!!

Unfortunately faxes are still used daily in the medical world.

I am overseas and the Commonwealth Bank requested I fax them some documents, explained we were in lockdown, and no idea where or how to find a fax machine.

Hardly a surprise, I can recall articles like this in the 1980s, referring to laws going back to Federation, mentioning items, or processes, which had long been consigned to the dustbin of history. Don't have to go too far back to when a wife was viewed as a 'chattel'.

People use faxes . As much as it’s ridiculous
