Facebook employees will hold a virtual walkout over CEO Mark Zuckerberg's refusal to sanction false or inflammatory posts by US President Donald Trump.

"Mark is wrong, and I will endeavour in the loudest possible way to change his mind," Ryan Freitas, the design director of Facebook's News Feed, tweeted Sunday, adding that he was organising about 50 other employees who share his view.

Twitter covered up the tweet with a message warning it"violated Twitter Rules about glorifying violence."The message also was posted on Facebook, but Mr Zuckerberg decided to let it stand unchallenged. But, Mr Zuckerberg went on to say that"our position is that we should enable as much expression as possible unless it will cause imminent risk of specific harms or dangers spelled out in clear policies."Twitter and Facebook both have in place systems to combat disinformation and dangerous content - appeals to hatred, harassment, incitement to violence and the like.

"I don't know what to do, but I know doing nothing is not acceptable," Jason Stirman, a member of Facebook's research and development team, wrote on Twitter.I don't know what to do, but I know doing nothing is not acceptable. I'm a FB employee that completely disagrees with Mark's decision to do nothing about Trump's recent posts, which clearly incite violence. I'm not alone inside of FB. There isn't a neutral position on racism.

Man up Zuckerberg

Good will they do it to everyone who makes crazy claims on Facebook ?

So now Facebook staff want to influence/run the world. Amazing how high some people hold their opinions. idiots.

Good sack them and hire new people.

Great. About time. Needs to be far more work done by soc media companies to combat inflamtary posts, and users. It's caused a huge wedge in social cohesion giving a platform to these sorts of antagonistic people.

Just sack em!

This lefturd flog already censors too many facts, due to his toxic lefturd biased policies. Are you telling me his staff are more leftard than he is? 😳

I had no idea he was racist 😳

Who is actually running this show, the tech companies or the democratically elected President of the United States. You cannot censor the US president. Fucking ridiculous.

Screw Zuck. Good on the staff taking a stand 👍🏼

Great Zuckerberg is learning you treat people the same not by politics
