A new study finds the company's scientists predicted warming with precision equal to or better than government and academic scientists even as the company publicly contradicted them.

Similar lawsuits from New York to California have claimed that Exxon and other oil and gas companies launched public relations campaigns to stir doubts about climate change.

Ms Oreskes acknowledged in the study she had been a paid consultant in the past for a law firm suing Exxon, while Mr Supran has gotten a grant from the Rockefeller Family Foundation, which has also helped fund groups that were suing Exxon. Oil giants including Exxon and Shell were accused in congressional hearings in 2021 of spreading misinformation about climate, but executives from the companies denied the accusations.University of Illinois atmospheric scientist professor emeritus Donald Wuebbles told The Associated Press in the 1980s he worked with Exxon-funded scientists and was not surprised by what the company knew or the models."The problem is at the same time they were paying people to put out misinformation.

More BS

Lol global warming is a theory. An old theory that never came true.

Coal, oil and gas will continue to supply base load energy while the world persists with renewables. Nuclear would eliminate all. An unspoken alliance between environmentalist, that demonise nuclear, and fossil fuel companies that can survive with them, has been forged.

On just fark off

‘Oil company lied for 20yrs to hide facts that will hurt production” - ffs you’re just like the dailymail with your clickbait hype ‘cut-and-paste’ articles. I voted green and even I want your funding abolished.

Unsurprising but tragic nonetheless. The time has come where action is necessary regardless of alignment or beliefs. We all know this is not a new thing or something which one is entitled to an uninformed opinion on. climatechange auspol AlboMP tanya_plibersek

It’s got to do with overpopulation. We need to stop sending aid to foreign countries with an unsustainable population.

This has been litigated many times and has always found to be BS.

Oh, computer models again. They should ask real models, not computers.

Weird how none of the other predictions have had any accuracy

How about: ABC admits that Exxon Mobil is the new gold standard for climate...😆👍

As far as I can find, as this from ABC's article says, scientists working from Exxon Mobil predicted average world temp rises, not climate-change. 'Scientists working for oil giant Exxon Mobil accurately predicted global warming'

Lol, we were in an Impending Ice Age ABC... The only difference is they blame the same events on Global Warming.🤪

Old news

Yeah, they knew the science. It's how they make money. Not their problem governments can't get their shit together and provide accurate useful policies.

So why couldn’t climate ‘scientists’ get it right ?

Rubbish. Climate has been been stable for 10 years. CO2 has gone up significantly over the same time.

Edward Teller gave a talk to U.S. oil producers in 1959 where he warned about global warming. They knew what was happening.
