Two top water experts have reassured millions of Australians after cancer causing “forever chemicals” were found to be present in the drinking water across the country.

Expert s have detailed the grim reality of cancer causing"forever chemicals" found in Aussie drinking water, but have urged the public not to be too worried.

Experts said widespread testing of Australia's drinking water was a priority. Picture: Kinga Krzeminska/ Getty Images In April, the US unveiled its maximum limits of PFOA and PFOS in tap water to be four parts per trillion, the lowest target water providers could possibly implement. "While I don’t like it at all, I don’t believe we need to be alarmed about the presence of PFAS or other chemicals, which are currently below the safe levels described in the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines," Professor Khan said.

But painting a grim picture, Professor Khan explained there was no escaping these chemicals as they were present in all the water on the planet from Antarctica to the Tibetan alps.
