Although there's a trickle of Tory Eurosceptics swinging behind Prime Minister Theresa May, overcoming the 149-vote defeat of last week is a massive task.

There are also signs that Eurosceptic Tory resistance is softening, with backbencher Daniel Kawczynski the latest rebel MP to say they will now back the Prime Minister's plan.May has warned MPs that unless they approve her Brexit divorce deal after two crushing defeats, Britain's exit could face a long delay and could involve taking part in European parliament elections.

But so far the number of Tories publicly switching positions has amounted to a trickle rather than the flood the prime minister needs to overturn the 149-vote defeat for the deal she suffered on Tuesday. And North Wiltshire MP James Gray appealed to fellow members of the Brexiteer European Research Group to get the "obnoxious" deal over the line because it was "the only way we can achieve anything which even vaguely resembles the Brexit that 17.4 million people voted for".

The prospect of the UK leaving the European Union on March 29 has receded after MPs authorised May to seek an extension to the Article 50 Brexit process.

I think the British are basically insane. They voted for Brexit, now sniggering as if it was some one else’s idea. Crazy 👵🏻

sad part of the whole thing is May was not in favour of Brexit but as PM needs to follow through it was that fool Boris that wanted it but he is of no use simply heckling from the sidelines waiting for his turn in the big chair
