Term two begins in Victoria with many students remaining at home, as children and parents report website failures as they log in for remote learning.

Mr Andrews rejected the notion there were conflicting messages, saying there was"no difference in our approach" between the State and Federal Governments.

He said the message across the country was"stay at home, learn from home if you can, if however your circumstances mean that you can't, school will be open for you". Shortly before Mr Andrews spoke, Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan said there had been"a very consistent message". "There are obviously different approaches within that in different jurisdictions and states and territories ultimately have the final decision with what happens with their schools in their state or territory," he said.

"But the clear message is for all those parents who are working, and they can't look after their children safely at home, schools are open and your students can attend school. For all those vulnerable children, school's open and you can attend school.""You are playing a vital role in helping our economy, to helping our society get through this. You are playing a vital role in us dealing with this pandemic," he said.

Queensland schools to open for vulnerable children and those of essential workers, others to learn onlineQueensland schools to open for term two for vulnerable students and the children of essential workers only, with the majority of students to learn remotely from home. Please define accurately what is meant by essential workers... for example, does someone selling BBQs represent essential workers? Bloody hell just reopen school to all the students. Don't have to unnecessarily 'make a mountain out of a molehill' over this fake pandemic. You have to start resuming everything back to nomality soon....can forever shutdown everything over a slightly virulent common cold. Please AnnastaciaMP define essential workers so we all get an idea.

Daughter ‘inconsolable’ after police interrupt father’s funeralA woman was left “inconsolable” after two Victorian police officers reportedly interrupted her father’s funeral over the Easter long weekend to ensure mourners were complying with social-distancing rules. Did they want to be next? And Queensland aloud 80 to a funeral of an elder. Such double standards I can guarantee there is more to this story than what is being reported!

Schools 'prepared for the unexpected' on first day of term twoParents who send their children to school this term will be required to fill out a form every week stating which days and times they need to be there. Started ‘online’ yesterday - only had a 15min google meeting, THAT’s it!!! I spent the rest of the day finding, double checking, photographing, & then MARKING when the teacher emailed the preprinted answer sheet 😡.. while teachers sit in empty classes on FULL PAY! Dan. This foolish position in kids being home schooled must change. FIFO workers can get on a plane together but kids can’t sit in a class together. Complete stupidity. Everyday! Typical teachers trying to get out of work..

Infectious disease expert calls for Australian schools to reopen for term twoAn infectious disease expert is urging that schools reopen for the next school term. Good luck persuading parents with that idea. “What we don’t know is the extent to which children might be transmitters – there just isn’t the data there.” Well that’s convincing. Dear Lord. Children with heart disease? Other underlying conditions? What percentage of teachers are 50+ years of age? Should they be given leave? Who replaces them? Why not have one message - in general: off campus learning. Child care for health industry
