EnergyAustralia boss Catherine Tanna steps down | NickToscano1

EnergyAustralia managing director Catherine Tanna has announced her retirement after seven years leading the nation’s third-largest power company and will step down on July 1.

Ms Tanna, who has been at the helm since 2014, will be succeeded by EnergyAustralia’s chief customer officer Mark Collette, the company said in a statement on Thursday.Ms Tanna said she was pleased her successor had been appointed from within EnergyAustralia’s ranks.a leadership transition that best suits our business,” she said.business that has become infinitely more complex over time.

An influx of renewable energy into the nation’s main power grid is placing enormous pressure on coal-fired power plants by driving down daytime power prices to levels where coal is increasingly unable to compete. EnergyAustralia last month announced it would close Victoria’s, four years earlier than planned, in response to spiralling losses.

Mr Collette said he was honoured to become EnergyAustralia’s next managing director and was looking forward to seeing through the company’s new energy initiatives including a large-scale battery. “I thank the board for this opportunity and am committed to carry on the work to build a thriving business capable of delivering momentous projects, such as Australia’s first four-hour, 350-megawatt, utility-scale battery by 2026,” Mr Collette said.and reliably, to our 2.4 million customers.”
