The company had told employees it would close its offices and cut badge access until Monday, Reuters reported, citing two unnamed sources, and it was not immediately known whether the headquarters reopened.
“There will be short, technical interviews that allow me to better understand the Twitter tech stack,” Musk wrote in one of the emails. The loss of employees in critical engineering roles comes just days before the World Cup, when the service typically expects a surge in traffic. The high-traffic event could be an important test for the new Twitter 2.0, as Musk referred to it, and how the company expects to run with a pared down workforce.
In his first email to Twitter employees this month, Musk said: “We are also changing Twitter policy such that remote work is no longer allowed, unless you have a specific exception.”The remote work policy prompted a proposed class action lawsuit filed by Dmitry Borodaenko, a Twitter employee who said he was fired for not reporting to the office.

Musk says Twitter workers must be 'extremely hardcore' or leaveTwitter&x27;s new owner Elon Musk has given employees until Thursday evening to commit to "extremely hardcore" work or else leave the company. What an outrage! A boss wanting his employees to actually work? Burn him at the stake Sounds more and more like Twitter Inc. was largely dysfunctional. Engineers (now dismissed) proudly proclaiming how they’ve been working on stuff for years, allowing Elon to point out that if that’s the case, why doesn’t it work properly?

Good! These people cheered on mandates and the demonization of anybody that questioned the government approval narrative. Not unlike most of the media in Australia actually. Clean the place out and let Twitter run itself. As seen outside twitter HQ Maybe realised the company makes no money and his staff are doing nothing? Fear of having to work hard has scared them off. Good riddance
