“The only way you get wages is by good sensible economic policies that drive down unemployment, and that support growth in the economy, which enables businesses to be able to pay their staff more.”taking you through the rest of the day’s coverage of the federal election campaign with three days to go.has hit the campaign trail early in the seat of Corangamite, a seat held by Labor with a margin of 1.1 per cent.

Inflation is world problems not only in Australia. Now we need give labor go! So disappointed what the liberals did for their term.

More LNP failure and lies 🤔

SOS149 Any old clown could have done better than that! 😂 ItsTime AlboForPM auspol

It's a GLOBAL supply-side inflation shock. Throwing money at consumers literally makes it worse. Unpopular reality - we all just have to tough it out - government should reduce burdens on lowest income households to the max extent possible. auspol AusVotes2022

My wages are up significantly. But that’s because I put the effort into making sure they go up.

Labor's fault I'm sure.

Of course that’s a 2.7% cut in real terms. Costello rag with deceptive headlines designed to sucker in the uninformed.

can you just stop lying!

Australian real wages collapsed in the past 12 mths with workers going backwards by a record 2.7%. This is a hugely damaging revelation for the LNP on the eve of an election where the LNP is pretending to be good economic managers & will badly dent Morrison’s re-election chances.

It is truely impressive how partisan the age is when it can make terrible news for the incompetent liberal seem like a positive with the use of its headlines. This country is on its way to becoming the USA everyday.

LNP-AGE at it again !

Scott Morrison has been blasted as “desperate and unhinged” for opposing a $1-an-hour wage rise while seeing his own salary rise by hundreds of thousands.

This is just plain embarrassing and is at odds with what economists are saying is the biggest fall (-2.7%) in real wages since 2001. CostelloMedia ThisIsNotJournalism LNPCorruptionParty EnoughIsEnough FederalICAC ThisIsNotJournalism

Looking forward to stagflation under Albo.

The government released the Budget and what the current promises impact that Budget. Labor is not saying if they will spend more or less or the same. That’s the issue.

So wages have fallen. You're allowed to tell the truth you know.

Wages increased by 2.4%, but the value of the dollar inflated by 5.1%, which means that we are earning less value for our labour than before.

and why is JEChalmers quoting something completely different to what you guys are - another Liberal stunt of promotion- UNREAL!!

or alternative headline: wages fail to increase nearly enough to close gap between income and inflation.....

Ummm I just read they collapsed by 2.7% up to March...

were did these figures come from JoshFrydenberg book WOW and this figure along with the employment figure are made up by the Liberals - where is the real data to prove what they are saying

Strong wages data could spark large June rate riseRepayments on a $750,000 mortgage would rise by $199 a month from June if employment and wages data prompt the RBA to increase interest rates faster to rein in inflationary pressures. House prices will fall 10pc before the PM’s super plan sends them upAllowing first home buyers to tap their superannuation would eventually push up house prices in the long-term, but only after the RBA’s interest rate rises cut property prices by at least 10 per cent. Sounds legit? Surely after a 10+% drop ftb’s would be a bit more wary, as would lenders? The RBA will be on 1.0% in September & 0.75% during December… it’s about GDP & retail, not just inflation.

Just tested positive for COVID-19 and need to vote? Here's howAs the federal election campaign enters its final days, some Australians might be wondering how to cast their vote if they contract COVID-19 and can't attend a polling booth on Saturday. You are required in the constitution to vote if you are enrolled to vote, that outranks a temporary mandate. You can bet a good slice of the budget for which ever incoming government prevails... Will be dedicated to the commitment of military aspects. So when the elders, youth and disadvantaged ask for funding for programs... The government can state... We have nothing for you! If the AEC now allow COVID-affected voters to cast a telephone vote, shouldn't this be also extended to remote communities, as well?
