Incoming treasurer Jim Chalmers says Labor’s climate policy is strong as Labor faces demands from a strengthened Greens contingent and teal independents to go harder on emissions cuts.
“Look, I think our climate policies are ambitious as they stand. And clearly there’s an appetite in the Australian community for responsible action on climate change,” he told Sky News. “We need to move to at least a 60 per cent reduction in carbon emissions and that’s what we’ll be helping the government move towards,” the new member for Kooyong told ABC RN Breakfast.
