Elderly woman arrested over alleged graffiti spree in Adelaide suburb

Police have arrested an elderly woman who allegedly caused "significant" graffiti damage to road signs in Adelaide's inner southern suburbs.Goodwood residents reported multiple incidents of vandalism in recent weeksThe 74-year-old Goodwood woman was charged with two counts of property damage earlier this week, SA Police confirmed today.

Police said local residents reported "significant damage" to road signs on Weller Street, within the Unley council area, for more than four weeks between July 8 and August 11.The graffiti has since been painted over by the council. "Community members assisted police with their investigations and provided photos of the damage and the offender," police said in a statement.Police said road signs on Weller Street have been vandalised in recent weeks.

The City of Unley recently installed speed humps and one-lane choke points to try to slow down drivers and make Weller Street safer for cyclists, who use it to get to Adelaide's CBD. A group of residents submitted a petition against the plans in June, once work had already started but before the council completed it.
