Police are calling for witnesses after an 86-year-old man was struck off his electric bicycle and killed in Perth's north.

abc.net.au/news/elderly-perth-man-riding-e-bike-killed-/101516910Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that killed an 86-year-old man who was riding an electric bicycle on the Mitchell Freeway.

The man was riding the black bicycle around 4:50am on Sunday when a vehicle, believed to be a silver Mitsubishi four-wheel drive, struck him near the Hepburn Avenue exit in Kingsley. The man was hit near the Hepburn Avenue exit, shutting down that section of the freeway. The part of the freeway where the man was found is undergoing roadworks, meaning the lanes were narrow and without an emergency lane.

Detective first class constable Benjamin Rooney said members of the public stopped immediately after the incident to call emergency services and try to revive the man. Constable Rooney said with the amount of debris left on the road, it would be impossible for the driver not to have known they hit a person.“We don’t know if the car slowed down or not – that’s under investigation.”Constable Rooney said the 86-year-old was likely alive for several minutes before dying at the scene from his injuries.“It's very unsafe, especially in hours of darkness,” he said."It can end catastrophically, as we know from events this morning.

A decade in the making: Perth commuters finally able to catch a train to the airportAfter a two year delay due to a sinkhole, workplace safety issues, supply disruptions and labour shortages, the airport rail link is finally up and running. Rather drive TBH Melbourne next surely, unless Transurban says no. Except the domestic T3/4 is still 13min walk after that… most other airports put the train station under the terminal, not WA.. we have to do it a little bit more shit than everyone else.. ffs how much did this cost and nobody will use it.

Racism, rapes and the increasing pressure on Queensland’s police commissionerPolice accountability is now a front page issue, due to an inquiry in which dozens of cases have been raised with Katarina Carroll Most of Queensland police don't have the main thing a police man or woman should have and that is integrity or courtesy This police commissioner is useless! Her “me too” moment smacks of weakness and hypocrisy! She’s no leader and has very likely lost the confidence of the organisation she is supposedly leading

Uvalde schools suspend entire police force after outrageUvalde’s school district suspended its entire police force amid fresh outrage over the hesitant law enforcement response to the gunman who massacred 21 people at Robb Elementary School. Indigenous or non-indigenous families? Does this do anything. It's tragic. There is so much more to this story than is being told. The shooter used a $3k Daniel’s military style rifle. How does a part time donut shop worker afford a $3k rifle with specific, expensive ammo ? most use an AR-15 off the rack for $300 and whatever ammo is in the shop !

That the report is well-written?
