The dramatic steps follow a months-long review into the sector in the wake of the disability royal commission. More than 15 thousand people with a disability will be affected, as six per cent of services operated by DES providers nationwide are shut down.
Shameful. This has been going on for years. Everyone in the disability community knows it. I have two family members who live with a disability. Both of them have low expectations for their DES provider's performance.

i enjoy being threaten by my dsp and told to do manual labor type jobs when i have a permanent spinal condition or i will have my allowance cut off . its the best and it makes me feel good about my situation 100% makes me want to work even less lol

Standard procedure for an a new government
Good the amount of times I attempted to use one of these services and have been paired badly or halfheartedly has caused me to not bother ever going back. They just treat as a cash cow not a human that is desperate to find gainful employment
Get rid of them all and mutual obligations too
Who are the disability providers being shut down completely? I think those who are with them have a right to know so they can adjust accordingly instead of waiting for a letter that say “you’re moving to this one, like it or lump it.”
Hopefully the 'regular' Job Network Agencies will be subject to the same type of review. And those agencies that don't perform well are closed down as well. They are rorts that feed off the distress and despair of the vulnerable unemployed. It's a punitive system. RETURN THE CES!
This is great news! Family & friends who work in disability support service have often voiced how poorly these agencies have operated. The effect on the self esteem of those who have participated in these agencies has been crushing when participants lose their job when 💰 goes!
This sounds like more of a con job of making it harder by putting some DES clients onto Workforce Aus & off DES! BTW, How many 'poor performing' & just downright crap Job Search Providers have been closed since this 'New' name change from Jobseeker to Workforce Aus. happened?

Don’t shut down the useless and morally bankrupt private workplaces people but will shut down the at least doing something disability ones. 🙄
Good, get people some decent help
Yes, about time they done something about poor DES services and lack of helping people with disabilities find work, going to DES caused me more anxiety because I knew I wasn’t going to get proper help🤦♂️, also staff weren’t given enough time to help clients properly 😡

ABC are making out this is a bad thing. It is stopping the waste of money for very poor or nearly non-existent services by these so called 'providers'. This overhaul is much needed
