The India travel ban has seen the “each-way hall of fame” joined by the likes of Annastacia Palaszczuk, Bill Shorten, and Adam Bandt, says Sky News host Paul Murray.

Mr Murray said these people initially saw a “political advantage” in “bashing the federal government and saying ‘we must close the borders’”.

“But then of course the public mood apparently changed,” he said. “Despite the fact that polling has consistently shown us that Australians are fine with this particular method.”

Commercial flights from India won’t be allowed for ‘some time’: Clennell | Sky News AustraliaSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says he doesn’t think commercial flights from India will be allowed for “quite some time” however repatriation flights will occur.\n\nHe said the decision to begin repatriation flights on May 15 is “dependent on agreement at National Cabinet”.\n\n“This the difficulty with allowing the states to be in charge of quarantine,” Mr Clennell told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.\n\n“Because you can’t just make this unilateral decision, so that’s kind of a key meeting tomorrow.”\n And why is that? Because we don’t have remote quarantine facilities in place to allow people to return and be housed comfortably and safely with decency. Tested until proven clear and then can go out and about. Won’t be the last pandemic. Such damage all round cause not in place

‘Cacophony of screaming’ over India flight pause is now ‘bordering on hilarious’ | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Paul Murray says the “cacophony of screaming” from some over the federal government’s India travel pause is now “bordering on hilarious”.\n\nMr Murray said there were other people who have “decided to point and suddenly find a problem” with the federal government’s measures.\n\n“These are the people who all think we should follow Norman Swan like a deity; the people who believe we should lock down Sydney and Melbourne over two coughs,” he said.\n\n“But it’s an opportunity to play a bit of team red, team blue federal politics.\n\n“Taxpayer television, Bill Shorten, Zali Steggall, and the Greens. Yeah, count me out of that coalition.”\n\n I would like to hear Paul Murray if he was in India right now on assignment, I am sure he would be part of the “cacophony of screaming” too. Or maybe his boss could pull some strings and get him out.
