A critical incident investigation has been launched after a fatal crash between a car and bus in regional New South Wales.
Officers initiated a pursuit on the Mitchell Highway, Dubbo, when a Mazda sedan failed to stop at 9.15am today.Police allege the Mazda continued onto the Mitchell Highway, crashing into a bus 1km east of the Mitchell Highway and Eulomogo Road intersection.Eight bus passengers were taken to hospital in a stable condition, while several others were treated for minor injuries at the scene.The bus driver has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Both lanes of the Mitchell Highway at Eulomogo Road at Dubbo were closed by 9.30am, according to Live Traffic NSW.Eastbound traffic is being diverted via the Golden Highway at Dubbo while westbound traffic is being diverted via Beni Street, Barbigal St and the Golden Highway.Emergency services and Transport for NSW are attending the scene.
