Donald Trump suggests delaying 2020 US presidential election, which he has no authority to do

"Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???" Mr Trump, who faces Democrat Joe Biden on 3 November, asked in a tweet.

My understanding is that the President does not have the power to stop the election. That power rests with Congress. If the election does not proceed, the President and VPs term still ends in January. The Speaker of the House then acts as President until an election is held.
