Shadow Treasurer JEChalmers is warning Australians not to be “conned” into believing debt in the budget set to be announced today is a consequence of COVID-19 alone.

Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers is warning Australians not to be “conned” into believing debt in the budget set to be announced today is a consequence of COVID-19 alone.

“Clearly, the COVID-19 health crisis has damaged the budget, we’re not contesting that, the point that I’m making is two-thirds of the debt had accumulated before we even heard of coronavirus," he said. “Before the bushfires and all the rest of it, it’s not the first deficit. “Don’t be conned today into believing that all of the problems in the economy and all of the problems in the budget are a consequence of seven months, the last seven difficult months.

JEChalmers Sure the Labor Green alliance saw to that.

SenatorWong JEChalmers

JEChalmers This guy is outrageous

JEChalmers He’s right. We’re all still paying for the constant economic stuff ups from Labour

JEChalmers Who believes Labor these days ?

JEChalmers But the Vic labor deficit is from Covid.. Interesting.. Feds are libs so it isn't covid but Labor in Vic is from covid. OK.

SenatorWong JEChalmers What the hell, Sky news being honest, is the sky also falling?

SenatorWong JEChalmers

JEChalmers Please vote this worthless little man out.

JEChalmers And aren’t we lucky that labor didn’t have control of the books in this crisis

JEChalmers Labors $667 billion projected debt gives Australia worst budget deficit since WW2

JEChalmers Nope it sure wasn't - we had Rudd, Gillard, Gonski, NDIS and NBN to kick it along from being zero debt in 2007 !

SenatorWong JEChalmers Why not try a bit of positive energy instead of sniping Bipartisan attitudes are refreshing so get with the National Cabinet program and provide some innovative ideas Dr Chalmers😳

JEChalmers 'As at July 1 2018, the budget estimate of net debt in Australia was about A$341.0 billion, up from A$174.5 billion in September 2013, when the Coalition took office. That’s an increase of A$166.5 billion, or roughly 95%, over almost five years.' Their zealots know they lie.

JEChalmers Since we were in a retail recession for 2 years, and were on track for a full recession before the fires and virus... Jim is absolutely right.

JEChalmers ScottMorrisonMP Labor became more an extremist and the left socialist movement group than a political party. No policy, no economic credentials and lack of practical idea. When they're in government, they failed in management of economy and national sovereignty.

JEChalmers Correct!

SenatorWong JEChalmers Fact - debt has risen every year since 2013 under LNP governments. Second fact - debt is not a bad thing, those of us lucky enough to have a mortgage know that. Money is so cheap tight now and borrowing to build a better Countey is good business.

JEChalmers Indeed. The recession we were always going to endure. Covid just hurried it up a little.

JEChalmers Still using unflattering photos for ALP politicians I see This is page 1 of the Google search for Jim Chalmers MP

JEChalmers It's because of your disastrous racism towards China. Leading to a backlash from the the Chinese. Who will neither come as 1) tourist 2) students 3) investment So you pretty much fucked

JEChalmers Seriously this bloke is a tool. Could you imagine the state of things had BS & Bowen seized control of the AUST economy. Tax & spend only works when there is something to tax

JEChalmers Get used to that Labour position of 'Shadow Treasurer'. More people in and out of that spot than an olde timey square dance...

JEChalmers Jim Who ?

JEChalmers Economic reform, FakePandemic

JEChalmers Jim you are irrelevant

JEChalmers That’s right. They inherited the budget deficit from JEChalmers your Labor party when Kevin and Julia were in government.

JEChalmers Sound like JEChalmers is trying the con on.

JEChalmers Well where do you think this debt came from if not from the drought.. The Bush fires or COVID 19 if your sums show they came from somewhere else than please tell us. no? I thought not

JEChalmers Oh, dear

JEChalmers It was in the shitter long before covid came into effect... Fact Auspol

JEChalmers Indeed.

NSW not considering pub, restaurant closures unless daily COVID-19 cases hit 100 | Sky News AustraliaThe NSW government is not looking to shut down pubs and restaurants until COVID-19 cases begin to hit around 100 new cases per day, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.\n\nHealth authorities confirmed 13 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the state in the 24 hours to 8pm on July 20.\n\nVictoria is still grappling with a surge in cases, with Premier Daniel Andrews confirming 374 new cases of the virus in the past 24 hours.\n\nMr Clennel said while the NSW outbreak is not as dire as Victoria, authorities are prepared to act if conditions deteriorate.\n\n“So with more bad numbers for Victoria and daily new cases around the 15-20 mark in Sydney, there has been speculation that pubs and restaurants might be shut down again in NSW – something that would have a real impact on the economy and those JobKeeper estimates,” Mr Clennell said.\n\n“I am reliably told that such closures are just not on the agenda at the moment, but if figures were to get to around 100 new cases a day then that would be happening. \n\n“So New South Wales businesses and everyone from the PM and Treasurer down need to hope that’s not the case. \n\n“Health sources are telling me that it is too early to speculate on a longer shutdown than six weeks in Victoria. \n\n“We will know more when we see case numbers in two weeks.”\n\nImage: Getty aclennell Why is the NSW punishing border towns with its current restrictions? aclennell By which time it could be too late. aclennell Don’t forget gyms too.

COVID-19 pessimism could be 'the catalyst that supercharges' the economy | Sky News AustraliaSky News contributor Peter Switzer says negativity surrounding the coronavirus could serve as a catalyst to supercharge the Australian economy in 2021.\n\nMr Switzer pointed to pessimism surrounding the virus outbreak in Victoria as a motivator for the government to push for greater stimulus, which has buoyed domestic markets.\n\n'The negativity we're seeing could become a reason for more stimulus,' he said.\n\n'You have both the Treasurer and the Reserve Bank Governor saying they're going to keep throwing stuff at the economy to beat the negativity surrounding the coronavirus.'\n\nLooking globally, Mr Switzer said US President Donald Trump was afraid the COVID-19 crisis could cost him the election, spurring him to invest more funding into the development of a vaccine.\n\n'He's throwing as much money and support behind these drug companies as he can come up with something before the election,' he said.\n\nHowever, Mr Switzer said the recovery hinged on a vaccine coming 'sooner rather than later'. \n\nImage: Getty peterswitzer Which brand of happy pills are you guys on?
