A dog has spent a terrifying 24 hours trapped on top of a table in a flooded home in Victoria but luckily escaped unharmed. 9News

Missy was stuck on a table in a Maribyrnong home after floodwaters quickly inundated the town with little warning for residents.

Her owner Ulfet said they left Missy behind at 6am yesterday thinking they would have time to go back and get her but they became stranded a couple of streets away."She's been here overnight so we've come back and grabbed her this morning. Luckily she's fine. She found a high place to rest and was safe," Ulfet said.He said that while the house is severely flood damaged, he's glad Missy is okay.

"Gives you an idea of the ferocity of the river at that point in time to churn that much mud and leave it behind."Bridge completely submerged by Victorian floodwaters
