A loyal dog may have saved a woman's life after it attacked a man who allegedly broke into a home in Sydney's west and was strangling the owner.

Caesar the pit bull came to the rescue of owner Susan Bandera when she was woken and allegedly attacked by a home intruder about 4am yesterday.Caesar the pit bull saved his owner during an alleged attack in the early hours of Sunday morning.The 60-year-old is in a mobility scooter after being shot by police 11 years ago."He is such a good boy. I couldn't be more happy with how he reacted," Natasha Bandera said today.
