Labor MP Patrick Gorman has warned a ‘form of modern slavery” could develop if people on welfare are not be able to be selective in their employment decisions. His comment responded to the Morrison government’s provision of a dob-in hotline which will allow employers to report JobSeeker recipients who turn down offers for work. “It does seem like an incredibly punitive approach,” he said when questioned on the topic.
“Do you want to go back to some form of modern slavery where people have to take a job regardless of the terms and conditions of that job?” Liberal MP Jason Falinski said “you only have to walk into a restaurant these days and they will say to you look I can only open for dinner because I can’t get anyone to work during lunch”.
PatrickGormanMP The MP makes a good point. What kind of employer would want to force any person to work for them? Such a worker would not be productive. Most employers want and need workers who actively sought the job and will perform productively in a good worker employer relationship.
PatrickGormanMP What a load of shit this guy talks the reason you can't get many workers in shops is because the owners can not afford them
PatrickGormanMP Good!
PatrickGormanMP Pathetic , you take whatever job you can get while you're looking for your dream job . Do people really think it's ok to let others do the so called low paid shit jobs and support them while they are waiting for the perfect job to come along ?
PatrickGormanMP DobSeeker is not proving popular with voters ...
