A cheeky, expletive-ridden private tourist campaign seeking to shock defiant travellers into staying at home during COVID-19 has taken off on social media

– and sparked the sale of online merchandise.Art director Guillermo Carvajal with the Apollo Bay image: "Stay the Absolute F*ck Away".But councillors and business leaders in some of the 10 towns showcased are not amused by slogans such as, for Apollo Bay, "Stay the Absolute F**k Away".

An image from Mansfield’s main street says: "It will be literally breathtaking if you a**eholes don’t keep your distance from Mansfield".Mr Carvajal said he and Mr Wheeler acted out of frustration and fear at seeing people leave town as COVID-19 cases soared. The pair have nowto sell mugs, T-shirts, stickers and towels, with plans to donate proceeds to charity.Credit:"We need one for Warrnambool and the Great Ocean Road," said a woman.

He said Lakes Entrance had suffered from the summer bushfires and COVID-19 but still welcomed visitors. Apollo Bay Chamber of Commerce president Bob Knowles said the images were an attempt to amuse but misguided."I don’t think it’s appropriate to tell people to f--- off, in any circumstances," Mr Knowles said. "I think it’s misguided and these people don’t understand the huge importance of the visitor population to small marginal towns."

Stupid idea. It only serves to divide and anger people. How they can name towns without permission and profit from it is beyond me. I get the joke but it's not funny.

Some cunts just don’t want Victoria to recover economically. To them I say. FUCK. YOU.

Hipsters from Melbourne selling and profiting from merchandise that ruins the livelihoods of people who have already been economically smashed

This is a complete copy of the DontVisitWalesChallenge that OwsWills began, except a little ruder...and definitely not very original!

Wow this is yet again some inner city self centred nonsense. They didn't even get permission from the towns. Towns that are relying on the renewed tourism. Just because metro vic can't visit doesn't mean the rest of Victoria can't..

I’ll remember this when everything is back to normal. And we can’t even leave Melb now. So they are just stupid. apollobay you suck

Getting a COVID-19 test? Don't get caught out by misinformation on social mediaWhile testing is ramping up to detect COVID-19, misleading information is circulating social media about how — and whether — the tests detect the virus. Or from the White House Why can't we have the simple saliva test instead of the brain drill? the PCR tests used to identify so-called COVID-19 patients presumably infected by what is called SARS-CoV-2 do not have a valid gold standard to compare them with.

Is what it is,Victorians have long memories. Life swings in roundabouts. When we are coming out of lockdown and the rest of the country is in it going in, we will just🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ The Mexican rebellion is in motion. I felt a bit sorry for Qld after the last election. Most of the invective came from the Vic progressive camp and it was pretty nasty. So much so that some had to step in to remind Aust about Qld's Labor past. We'll all be in a 2nd wave soon enough.

A bunch of whining old white men happy to torture and imprison brown pple, give me a break Ballieu - he was a disappointing Premier. Imagine being in Opposition for that long and after winning an election, just not really standing for anything. Perhaps they should speak to the current opposition Leader in Victoria and a couple of his dimwit members, along with Murdoch papers.
