The black pistol was left pointing towards the aisle in the middle of a seat on a train destined for the eastern suburbs.
A man reportedly got off the train as it arrived at Sydenham station shortly after 8am, before a woman noticed the pistol, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. “This poor woman who had been sitting across from him was saying out loud, ‘Oh, that man left a gun on the train’,” one witness told the SMH.Following the shocking discovery, the train proceeded to travel to Redfern station, where staff were alerted to the weapon.
