Ship carrying 750 tonnes of fuel from Egypt to Malta ran into difficulty in bad weather on Friday evening

A tanker carrying 750 tonnes of diesel fuel from Egypt to Malta sank in the Gulf of Gabes off Tunisia’s south-east coast, sparking a rush to avoid a spill.

“The ship sank this morning in Tunisian territorial waters. For the moment, there is no leak,” said a local court spokesperson, Mohamed Karray. The tanker is 58 metres long and nine metres wide, according to the ship monitoring website Vesseltracker.com. The environment minister, Leila Chikhaoui, was travelling to Gabes “to evaluate the situation … and take necessary preventive decisions in coordination with the regional authorities,” the ministry said.

Russia hits missile plant near Kyiv as retaliation for sinking of Moskva warshipA workshop and an administrative building at the Vizar plant, in the Kyiv suburb of Vyshneve near the international Zhuliany airport, were seriously damaged. Retaliation? Fuck off. They're destroying everything as their matter of course. Every action has a reaction. One would have thonk a missile(!) plant(!) would be one of the first targets in their military assault. Like, don’t let the enemy produce more weapons to hit us. The only aspect that is noteworthy is that they didn’t hit it earlier. Intelligence fail?

Flagship missile cruiser Moskva has sunk, Russia confirmsThe defence ministry had said earlier on Thursday that the Soviet-era ship had been badly damaged by the fire, which Ukraine said was a result of its missile strike. Have any nuclear weapons been recovered? Being their largest flagship missile cruiser in a war zone it would definitely have contained at least tactical nuclear warheads, dozens probably. They always carry them as they can't just be supplied at short notice when needed
