A coronial inquest into the death of a former police officer last year has heard she may have been fatally hit in the head just days before her death.
Witnesses that night told police they had seen HD's partner knock her to the ground, drag her and possibly kick her. In a diary account, HD wrote that she was left with bruises to her neck, shoulders, arms and jaw, after refusing to show her partner her bank account details. Despite questions left unanswered around the circumstances of HD's death, police did not set up a crime scene at the home, the inquest was told.
Detective Sergeant Richard Magree admitted to seeing bruises on HD's arms and that it would have been "important to the investigation" to ask more questions.
It would appear that the Engles are a common occurrence throughout inquests.
