Homes have been destroyed and lives threatened as intense blazes continue to burn across south-east Queensland and northern NSW. 9News

There were no properties under direct threat.

"Friday night the fire behaviour was unbelievable. Something we have never seen in Queensland. Today still very high fire danger. Still very dry, very windy. But not as bad as what it was over the weekend," he told Today. Late yesterday afternoon, some 680 firefighters were still working on more than 53 bush and grass fires burning throughout the state, with 18 of those uncontained.
