The trial of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd is “is one of the most important in recent history” as it could change how the civil rights movement in America progresses, according to political commentator and author Eliot Nelson.
“The police killings of George Floyd and others like Breonna Taylor has galvanised the civil rights movement in ways that we really haven’t seen since the 1960s and however this trial turns out will no doubt have a huge impact on how that movement goes forward,” he told Sky News. Mr Nelson said the issue of police violence against African Americans has “very much defined American politics” over the past five years and is the most important trial for civil rights in decades.

eliotnelson It's not important in the least. It's media hyped on steroids.
eliotnelson It’s all down to the demography of the population. I am told you are more likely to be killed by a white person in a population that is predominantly white and more likely killed by a black person in a population that is predominantly black.
