Crime rates in many Democrat-led cities have skyrocketed in the wake of the 2020 George Floyd protests as leading Democrat figures back major cuts to police budgets while retaining their own personal security.

A new report by not-for-profit organisation ‘Open the Books’ has revealed Democrat Mayors in about 20 cities in the United States have called for the police to be defunded while continuing to benefit from multi-million dollar protection units.

In San Francisco, the Democrat-led government approved plans to cut spending for police by $120 million over the next two years but spent $2.6 million last year on the Mayor’s personal security. Meanwhile assaults in the city are up by 4.8 per cent. Mayor Brendon Scott’s personal protection unit cost taxpayers nearly $2 million last year and other officials such as the state’s attorney and police commissioner benefited from their own private protection details.

The death of African American George Floyd in May 2020 during his arrest in Minneapolis sparked a wave of protests across the globe against police violence.
