Aaron Finch has all but confirmed Steve Smith and David Warner won’t make immediate returns when their year-long bans expire during Australia’s ODI series against Pakistan.
Justin Langer and Cricket Australia chief executive Kevin Roberts both acknowledged during the summer that the comebacks of Smith and Warner could potentially come in the UAE.However, the banned batsmen’s injuries seem to have ensured that scenario is no longer on the table. Smith and Warner are set to be included in Australia’s 15-man World Cup squad, but Finch reiterated that nothing was certain at this stage for obvious reasons.
Selectors and medicos are likely to be conservative with his pec injury but the left-armer has not been ruled out.
