″⁣, 18/4. Once again, we are told that the world has become a more dangerous place, and so we must arm up and prepare for war.Most of the extra spending will be on the navy – the promised AUKUS fleet of nuclear subs plus undersea drones and frigates.

One must ask, what’s the point of such an announcement? The government has no idea at all about what expenditures it will need to make – not even over the next couple of years. The demands on Australia will be shaped by other world powers, to meet threats or by demands from allies. The posturing is a complete waste of time.What a total waste of taxpayer money. There are so many better ways of spending 50 thousand million dollars than on more military hardware.

But what they would definitely achieve is to further exacerbate the sense of embattlement that the Jewish community in this country is feeling right now.After reading Marc Purcell’s cogent analysis of Israel’s insidious and deliberate policy of engineered famine on the people of Gaza, . It’s a concise and compelling statement of the urgent steps that must be taken to protect the planet from the ravages of global warming.
