Deputy Labor leader Richard Marles has condemned the “disturbing” protests at Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance on Wednesday.

Another day of protests ended in chaos after hundreds of people returned to Melbourne’s CBD for a third consecutive day, swarming on the “sacred” war memorial for more than three hours.

“I condemn this crowd, there’s no place for violence in Australian public debate,” Mr Marles told Sky News Australia. Mr Marles, who represents the seat of Corio southwest of Melbourne, said the protesters’ message “could not be more damaging and could not be more wrong”. Demonstrators eventually fled the Shrine of Remembrance after police converged on the memorial site, firing rubber bullets and administering tear gas.

But the Victorian boss of the powerful Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy union hit out at those who gathered, as did representatives from Master Builders Australia.

Labour is the enemy of the people. It has 1 leader who controls everyone in the cabinet, never takes responsibility and always ready to sacrifice a minister or personal secretary to protect himself

At some point Federal Labour are going to realise that Daniel Andrews is set to become the most infamous politician in Australian history and will dump him. Clearly, that moment has not yet arrived.

Australia is rapidly sliding into a third world police state/dictatorship. What is happening in Australia is evil and the people resisting it are righteous and brave.

Your coverage is mostly the problem.

'Mr Marles defended the unions and praised their efforts in supporting the Victorian government’s decision to mandate vaccinations in the sector' And that`s exactly why the construction workers are protesting The unions have betrayed their members who they are supposed to protect

What he should be condemning…. Police using violence against peaceful protesters. Just like the CCP.

Police slam 'cowards' involved in Melbourne protest after making 62 arrestsPolice have condemned the "selfish" and criminal actions of "cowards" involved in the violent protests in Melbourne today after making 62 arrests. Definitely criminal to shoot firearms in a public place without any due care of Victorian citizens getting hit in the Cross fire. Pretty much rule number one when shooting a firearm. I wonder which 'tradie' protesting against 'mandatory vaccines' was the one that brought a Trump 2020 flag? But hey, they're ALL hard-working CFMEU members tired of Dictator Dan!!! /s Criminal scenes, like shooting unarmed civilians with rubber bullets, is that what what you mean?
