Footballer Jack de Belin “expected sex” with a 19-year-old woman he met at a nightclub and didn’t take no for an answer when she did not give him consent, a jury has been told.
Both men have pleaded not guilty and maintain they had a consensual threesome. It is the second trial they have faced, after the first one last year was unable to be concluded. Mr Scully said the woman was “a 19-year-old girl, a teenage girl, having fun at Christmas time” who was “allowed to get dressed up, she’s allowed to wear makeup, she’s allowed to have a fun dance … she’s even allowed to have a fun kiss.”
Mr Scully said Jared Barnes, who claimed the woman approached him in the nightclub and told him Mr de Belin was “hot” and she wanted to “get with him”, gave a version of events that was “simply impossible” and was either confused or an outright liar.
