When David Eden and Georgina Oxley had a dispute with a removalist company, they had no idea they would be in court years later spending $100,000 preparing for a costly defamation trial against search giant Google. | By Tom Cowie

When David Eden and Georgina Oxley had a dispute with a removalist company, they had no idea they would be in court years later preparing for a costly defamation trial against search giant Google.

In the years since, Eden and Oxley say their page has been inundated with bad reviews accusing them of ripping people off, not offering refunds, selling inferior products and having rude staff.“When comments are made like that, you don’t think it’s going to turn into a multi-year ordeal,” said Eden. They were granted an interim order, according to civil court documents, which required the removalists not to “publish on the internet… any material about [Oxley and/or Eden]″⁣.

They are suing the owners of the removalist company, Udari Koushalya, Bangamu Achichi and Rangika Abeyweera, for defamation and injurious falsehood for posting the allegedly fake reviews.
